When I think of design, the first thing that comes to mind
is simplicity. In an internet-based world where content
often takes priority, a simple design is a breath of fresh
air. Leonardo DeVinci once said - Simplicity is the
ultimate sophistication.
Creative design is my escape from a cluttered world. There
are breakdowns in form and function all around us, and the
ability to make something immediately understandable and
pleasing to the eye gives me a feeling of relief and peace
of mind. My process most importantly involves repeated trial
and error. If something looks even slightly out of place,
I will try and try again until I think I've found it's home.
At this point, I've learned some very valuable things about
the creative process. Much like a piece of clay, any design
can be reworked and re-evaluated until it takes the desired
look and feeling. There are no bad ideas...those come with
the self-inflicted pressure of creating something unique.
Instead, confidence in our process brings the opportunities
to create something exciting - whatever the idea, it can
be shaped into something pleasing with a little time and
attention to detail. The stress that comes with being innovative
can sometimes be overcome by truly believing in your potential.
